FWA Workshop: “Negotiation Skills: Women Don’t Ask, But They Should”
Nationally, women’s salaries lag behind those of men. Why? One reason may be women’s greater reluctance to ask and negotiate for what they want. In this workshop, Prof. Jess Alberts will discuss the value of women asking for what they want and need professionally and personally. She will present some of the reasons women are more hesitant to ask than are men, explain the value of asking in professional and personal contexts, and provide strategies to help women ask and negotiate for what they want more effectively.
Presenter: Jess Alberts, president’s professor, Hugh Downs School of Communication
Date: Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009
Time: 12:45 p.m. –1:45 p.m.
Location: MU Alumni Lounge 202
This presentation is part of the offerings of the Commission on the Status of Women/University Staff Council Professional Development Conference. Registration is required for this event. Registration will open in late August. If you would like to be notified when the registration system opens, please e-mail Karen.Engler@asu.edu.
